Sending Love to All That Are Suffering From The Las Vegas Tragedy

the Las Vegas Tragedy

Waking up to the news of the Las Vegas Tragedy

I have always been described as someone who is extremely sensitive. That’s not such a bad description but at times the burden is great. I am affected by the smallest of situations and react with tears and anxiousness more than I really want to and especially when we are surprised by tragedy.

Today I woke up to the news of the shooting in Las Vegas. I was tired and went to bed early so my first available news was seeing the heartfelt sadness and prayers sent to Las Vegas on Facebook.

I had no idea about any of the details and by turning on the news I quickly learned what had happened. These types of horrific tragedies happen so often it makes me sick to my stomach. The number of mothers, fathers and families that are grieving is staggering. What can I do that can make a difference?

Can I make a difference?

Truthfully, I feel like a grain of sand on a long sandy beach, so small and my actions so insignificant. The wish I have is that each person, each tiny piece of humanity join together and bring hope to the rest that are in pain.

As a mother, nothing is more precious to me than my family. I feel the pain of the mothers and fathers dealing with the tragedy in Las Vegas and I feel so very sad. Here at Adventures of Empty Nesters I write about the importance of finding adventure and encourage everyone to live life to the fullest. I still believe that.

We cannot let terrorism or sick, misguided, evil people stop us from living the life of our dreams. However, it did make me stop and think about my mother and the worry she must have when Craig and I travel as much as we do.

Family is everything ~

I love my family more than anything and could never begin to understand the loss the families are feeling right now. I am sending my hope and support to all that are suffering and hopefully this can provide some comfort in knowing that a Mom in Pasadena, California really cares about them.

Hug your spouse, tell them you love them. Remind your parents how much you care and tell your kids you are always there for them, no matter what.

I appreciate you reading this and I hope that you are not touched personally by this newest tragedy and join me in sending love and prayers to all that are suffering.

<3 Suzanne

  1. Well said Suzanne… I too woke up without any knowledge of the tragedy that unfolded last night. My husband was in Vegas! He was at the New York New York having a cocktail with some other friends when people came running in screaming about an active shooter!

Two of my husband’s friends are also cops, they unfortunately were unarmed, however, they let local PD know who they were and were put to work clearing the Casino. Speaking to him this morning I could hear how he was still shaken by this incident. It is shocking how the mind of an individual can wreak so much chaos on other innocent lives.

I can’t wait to hug my husband and tell him thank you for helping out in any way he could.

I wish for PEACE of mind and heart to all the people who have been affected by this senseless tragedy.

  3. Suzanne, I woke up to Candice calling me with the sad news. A little bit ago I needed to go to the post office and around town noticed the flags lowered. Sobering. Then I spent a little time on BuzzFeed reading about the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. No way to make any sense of it . I appreciated your thoughts and light and love you send out into the world. Yes, hug our love ones and practice forgiveness always.
